The Black Keys | Nova Baby
I’m unsure whether the Black Keys’ recent effort quite matches up to their last album ‘Brothers’, but it immediately hit me as one of my favourite albums of 2011. They’ve successfully modified their sound enough to remain interesting without losing what makes them a great band. One of the first things I noticed about this album was that some parts reminded me of ‘Rome’ from earlier this year, and it turns out that Danger Mouse co-produced this album (this is particularly in ‘Dead and Gone’. Nova Baby is one of my favourite tracks off the album, it’s got so much energy and Auerbach’s vocals are sublime when he sings ‘You don’t know what you want’.
